Mark Northwood is a proven leader from the financial services industry with an engineering background. 

He has held senior positions at Fidelity International (Investment Management) and The Financial Conduct Authority and has run a boutique consultancy providing expert advice to superannuation funds. 

He has managed teams, process change and complex system implementations. He has been an advisor to company Boards, Government sponsored projects and industry associations.

  • 2023/4 UK Universities Superannuation Fund (USS) Head of Execution Oversight USS

  • 2019 /22 FCA Senior Technical Specialist within the Asset Management Department of the UK’s financial regulator he was lead supervisor for BlackRock (working with Lucas Pedace).

  • 2016 /19 Bips Global Limited Principal and Founder. An expert consultancy focused on systematic Best Execution, operational risk and process improvement. 

  • 2009/16 Fidelity International London Global Head of Equity Trading Managing a 30 strong team split between HK and London. He reported to the global CIO and was a member of the senior management team driving strategy, risk and governance.

The role demanded close interaction across the organisation, and he participated in the Firm’s Regulatory Risk Assessment process.

  • 1999/2009 Fidelity Investments (HK) Head of Trading for Asia Pacific. At this time Fidelity was the largest investment manager in the world.

Mark holds a BSc (Eng) hons at Imperial College London in Mechanical Engineering with Business studies.
